Over the weekend, Kenema police station was jam-packed with resident and indigenes from Neikabo to witness and identification parade for alleged killing of a 2yrs-old boy.
In an exclusive interview, the head of Media and Public Relations, Sierra Leone Police-Eastern Region, Inspector Prince Bernard Jeigboi Kamara disclosed that the police have had another intelligent on the matter. Explaining further, he stated that a dumb that was believed to have watched the drama which led to the sad demise of the toddler from an enclosed site has opted to share with the police what she saw.
“With no time wasting we wrote the police headquarters requesting for a qualified sign language interpreter. Upon granting our request we instituted an identification parade at our charge office here with different set of people including journalist, police officers, passersby and inmates from Neikabo and other parts of the district”, the inspector explained, disclosing that only one inmate was singled out from that identification parade.
Asked whether that was all from the dumb, inspector Kamara maintained that Mamie Karimu (dumb) had mentioned in her initial statement obtained before the parade that she saw three men and a woman.
A team of detective police officers, journalists, and other key personalities flee to the scene of crime at Neikabo, as per the dumb directives where another man and a woman were identified by Mamie Karimu (the dumb), and were straightly placed under police arrest.
The convoy later retuned and arrested one Ishieaka who Mamie’s strike captured and was amongst the Neikabo population at the Kenema police station.
Police revealed that they’ve released the initial 13 suspects who were held in custody with an option to report on daily basis excluding the one man singled out from the identification parade.
”The four (Amadu Barie, Sidiqie Kabba, Isheaka Kallon and Christiana Kallon) are all helping with further investigation whilst we await legal advice”, police said.
Even though the police seem to be on top of situation but capital crimes appeared to be alarming in the Eastern Region.
Information gathered by this medium had earlier indicated that the brutal victimization was sprung on a two years old child.
Chernor Amadu Bah, (deceased) was taken to Neikabo community by his mother, Isata Bah who went for medical purpose, as that was not their first visit according to sources.
It also detailed that the bereaved mother, before the incident was sweeping and later went for a garbage collector at a nearby kitchen, unfortunately upon her return, Chernor was nowhere to be seen.
After some couple of hours, his cool blooded body was then discovered in the bush over a mile from the village lying in a pond, the story furthered.
13 people were held in custody whilst the police continued their robust investigation on the hard-to-crack venture.
But the police had also vowed earlier to probe all spheres as an autopsy result showed that the 2yrs old innocent boy died of strangulation.
On Friday, 31st December 2021 the city of Kenema was awash with another tearless killing of a toddler from Neikabo.
Neikabo is about 18.5 kilometers (11 & half miles) off the city of Kenema.
