For far too long, the civil populace perceived the Police as a non- believers. They are branded as People that don’t worship God, due to the nature of their work and the way and manner they sometimes execute their duties. This has been the opinion of many citizens.
In Variance to the above perceptions, the Regional Police Commander South AIG Aiah Edward Samadia in collaboration with the Local Unit Commanders ( LUCs) and the Police Chaplain in the Southern Region have organized a well-attended Thanksgiving services on Friday 28th and Sunday 30th January 2022, in the city of Bo.
According to the Regional Police Commander South, this initiative was born out of the desire of the Inspector General of Police Dr. Ambrose Michael Sovula for to organize a Thanksgiving service for both Muslim and Christian faiths in order to appreciate the Maker for having secured us throughout the 2021 with no adverse effect on our lives.
On Friday 28th January 2022, the Thanksgiving service commenced at the Ahmadiyya Mosque along Mahei Boima road in Bo.
The Service was well attended by members of the Muslim faith and sermon was delivered by Sergeant Sheik Salam Shaw head of Inspectorate South.
Subsequently, on Sunday 30th January 2022, the Christian faith also held a well-attended thanksgiving service at the New Harvest House of Gathering, Old Railway Line in Bo.
The Service was graced by many notable personalities and sister Forces such as the Military, Correctional service personnel, Fire Force, Universal Chaplain Corps etc.
Sermons were delivered on the theme” Praying Police Officers after the declaration of purpose by ACP Joseph Saffa LUC Bo West with a brief statement on the above theme.
Statements were made by various stakeholders such as AIG South, the head pastor of the Police Bible Church, and the Regional Chaplain team.
Preacher of the ceremony was pastor Mbassay, who doubles as the head of Police Chaplain South.
The guest preacher was Rev. Dr. E.B Johnson who offered prayers for the rank and file of all Police personnel. He affirmed his commitment to support the police for effective service delivery.
He called on his pastors to continuing praying for God`s direction in a bid to provide a visionary directive for the leadership of the Police.
