Abu Bakarr Kamara was arraigned before Justice M Bawoh of the sexual modern offences court in Freetown on one count charge of sexual Penetration contrary to the Laws of Sierra Leone.
According to the particulars of offence the accused person Abu Bakarr Kamara on the 9th of January 2021 at Freetown in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone engaged in an act of sexual penetration with a child.
Fourth prosecution witness (PW4) Patricia Kamara mother of the victim testifying in court identified the accused.
She said she couldn’t recall the date but noticed her victim’s appearance when she saw the victim and called her privately and enquired of her the black thick mark on her belly. She said the victim denied at first and told her it was a natural mark but that she persistently questioned the victim to tell her who sexually penetrated her and got her pregnant, she said the victim later confessed that the accused person Abu Bakarr Kamara sexually penetrated her and that it was from January 2021 that she got vaginated by the accused.
Prosecution witness continued that she took the victim to a nurse Baby K who is now late and told her to examine the victim and that the nurse told the victim to see and used a tester on the victim and found out that the victim was six months pregnant.
She also said that she came home and reported the matter to the victim’s father and made report at the Aberdeen Police station and issued them a medical request form at the Rainbow center where tests were conducted and victim was found been (6) six months pregnant.
Defense counsel in his cross examination questioned the mother that if the accused person Abu Bakarr Kamara who is now standing trial of the offence of sexual penetration is the only man that sexually penetrated her.
According to the Prosecution witness said that Alhassan Deen Turay who was working at save the children mentioned to her that he wants to put the victim on a program at save the children that her child would benefit from but Alhassan Deen Turay ran away when the matter of sexual penetration was mentioned and that the victim confided in her that the accused Abu Bakarr Kamara was the one that sexually penetrated her and got her pregnant. Witness said the victim told her that that when she was vaginated she saw blood oozing from her vaginal part and that the accused person answered to the offence of sexual penetration when he confronted him with the matter.
The accused was represented by H. Momoh whilst the state was represented by P. M Williams.
The matter has been adjourned to the 7th February 2022 for further hearing.
