Bo Police West in Bo District has today 9th of February 2021 recommended the dismissal of Police constable 20150 Thomas Bangalie who was found guilty of three count charges.
According to the Presiding officer Inspector Mohamed Bobson Senu, the constable who was tried in fairness admitted guilt one three counts charges. His self-confessed testimony was tendered in evidence.
According to the particulars of offence, count one discharging of firearms without a just cause, led to the injury of One 19 years old Hassanatu Moriba’s right leg.
The victim was later taken to Freetown where her leg was amputated. The incident happened on the 5th February 2021.
According to the eye witness account, Officer Bangalie Kamara, at the All Stars Barbing shop, Lahai street New London, discharged his firearms in their presence. He is said to have cocked his gun not realizing that a bullet remained in the chamber of the gun.
Count Two, Act of Prejudicial to Good Order and Discipline, contrary to law in paragraph 9 rule 47 of Police Regulations and Discipline of 2001.
Count Three, Neglect to the Prejudice of Good Order and Discipline contrary to Paragraph 9 rule 47 of Police Regulations 2001.
The Presiding officer, Inspector Mohammed Bobson Senu, recommended his dismissal based on the approval of the Inspector General of Police IGP. Thee officer has 21 days to appeal this judgment.
He further recommends that he was to be handed to the CID for further investigation and also the authorities who posted the young officer in that location with firearms will be investigated the inspector concludes.
