In the bid to complement government efforts in promoting development, Lifeline Nehemiah Projects has on Thursday 2nd December 2021 informed the media on its contributions to the Kissy Community in Freetown at the office headquarter in Kissy.
Philemon Kamara, Administrative Director at Lifeline Nehemiah Projects said the institution was created by a Sierra Leonean born who saw the need to support the welfare of vulnerable war victims particularly children and those in the street by providing education and middle level man power.
He mentioned that over two hundred children were catered for at the start of the project.
‘‘The visions of Lifeline Nehemiah Projects are education, building of schools in various places across the country, embarking on agriculture, provision of loan facilities to farmers, as well teaching farmers the modern days farming system, and providing healthcare facilities in the Kissy community and also in the provinces,’’ Philemon Kamara said.
He noted that they have over time actualized the establishment of vocational institution of which has helped a lot of young people in the Kissy community. He said in early 2012 Lifeline Nehemiah Projects carried out a survey and realized that most of the violent activities in this community was as a result of unemployment as well as lack of the capacitation of the mid-man power among young people.
Philemon Kamara said with regard to the outcome of the survey they did, Lifeline Nehemiah Projects (LNP) had a project, which they were able to train more than one thousand young people in the Kissy community. Today many have made good benefits from the scheme and they are now responsible people in the community.
Prince Tommy Williams, Executive Director of Lifeline Nehemiah Projects said, in lieu of all these opportunities they have provided in maintaining smooth synergy between the organization and the community, it is of evidence that they are having challenges particularly from some stakeholders in the community who do not want to see development and transformation.
He alleged that there have been perpetual lawlessness and injustice going on especially by some senior police officers in the eastern part of Freetown. Prince Tommy Williams urged the government to reform the police system in this country in order to enhance fairness and accountability.
