The Back Ice Nation Organization set to stage a fifteen million inter-Community Gala tournament that will commence on the 5th December 2021 at the Parade playing field.
According to the Chief Organizers, Abdul Fofanah said this is the first edition of the tournament having eight Communities taking parts and the format of the tournament is that two teams will progress each group and face the knockout stage and from there, a semi-finals spots and two teams will progress to the final spot. He added that the Star Price for the first edition is (15) Fifteen Million Leones and eight Million Leones for the runners-up prize. There will also be prices for the highest goal scorers in the tournament.
A Philanthropist from Bambra Town Community, who also doubles as the Chief Executive Officer of Black Ice nation, Ernest George Cole said the Gala Tournament is to see how the Communities can take ownership on their own and how they can embark on developmental projects without waiting on Government to do it for them. He singles out the Bambra Town Community that embark on a Community project that has to do with road construction without depending on the government to do it for them and that has influenced other surrounding communities to follow suit.
He added by calling on all the participating Communities to follow the rules and regulations that abide by the tournament and to accept the results of every match because this is just the first edition of the tournament and he wants it to be an annual event and the tournament aims to bring communities together and let them feel belong as football has the power to unifies people and makes friends.
Below are the Communities that are going to take part in the tournament:
1. Fullah Town Community
2. Mountain City Community
3. Kingdom Community
4. Kroo Bay Community
5. Bambra Town Community
6. Peninsular Community
7. Lumley Community
8. Magazine Community
The teams will have to take care in terms of gate taking throughout the tournament as it is not a profit-making Gala tournament. The organizers will be climax after three weeks.
Before the commencement of the Gala, each Community received two Million Leones as seed money to prepare ahead of the start of the tournament.
All matches will take place at Parade Ground and the Opening Ceremony in Mountain City Community will lock horns with Bambara Town Community.
