Fallah Ansumana Koroma made another appearance before Justice Komba Kamanda at the high court No1 in Freetown on the 30th November 2021 on one count charge of fraudulent conversion contrary to section 20 (1) (a) of the larceny Act 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence the accused Fallah Ansumana Koroma between the 1st July 2021 and the 31st July 2021 at John Obey in the York Judicial District in the western area of the republic of Sierra Leone fraudulently converted to his own use or benefit certain property that is to say 10 (ten) lengths of iron rod valued le 1,100,00 (One Million one hundred thousand Leones) two mold hammers valued at 140,000 (one hundred and forty thousand Leones) and one ax sow blade valued le60,000 (sixty thousand Leones) all to the total value of le1,364,00 (one million three hundred and sixty four thousand Leones) entrusted to him by Sorie Mansaray in order that the said accused Fallah Ansumana Koroma might the said materials in safe custody.
First prosecution witness (PW1) Sorie Mansaray said the accused person is his caretaker and that he left him in charge of his building site in which he placed some building materials in his care and that the properties included some bags of cement and iron rods an axe sow and two mold hammers that days later he discovered that the materials had gone missing.
The prosecution witness continued that when he asked the accused the accused admitted that he stole the building materials. Prosecution witness said he made a statement against the accused at the Lumley police station.
Second prosecution witness (PW2) David Kalawa Mansaray a mason said the complainant is his boss and that he recognized the accused at the complainants building site at John Obey. He said on the 1st and 31st July 2021, he said at the time he was working when the complainant brought some building materials and placed them under the custody of the accused person , he said the items included cement, iron rods, working tools and that the complainant recorded down all the building material items he brought to the accused.
He continued that two weeks later he received a call from the complainant about the accused stealing the building materials and that the complainant made a report against him at the Kent police post.
OC Tucker of Legal Aid Board and Taylor Young represented the accused person whilst VEA Kabia and team represented the state. The accused has been sentenced to 12months imprisonment.
