20yrs old Josephine Kamara made another appearance before Magistrate Peter Gogra of Pademba road court No.6 in Freetown on two count charges to wit Larceny dwelling house contrary to Section 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on the 8th October 2021 at No.28 soldier Street the western area in Freetown with intent entered into the dwelling house of Hawa Quee to steal the sum of three million Leones (3,000,000) and on count two on the same date at the same place the accused person did steal the sum of five million Leones (5,000,000) from the said complainant.

First Prosecution witness (PW1), Hawa Quee a business woman Said she recognized the accused person as her neighbor and recalled on the 8th October 2021 that something transpired between herself and the accused person.

 The witness said she went to buy goods for her shop on her arrival at the shop she discovered that her money has got missing from her bag and she searched at home but didn’t find the missing money. The witness said she discovered five million Leones had missing from her box. As she was approaching the neighborhood, the accused person without asking said bluntly to her that “I did not take your money.”

According to the witness, in her presence the accused arrested and the sum of four hundred and forty seven thousand Leones was taken from his pocket and she requested for the balance money of which he said he handed it to one Abie. She and the accused person went to the house of Abie and four hundred thousand leones was given to her.

The witness said eight million Leones was stolen from her and she only received eight hundred and forty seven thousand Leones and she went to the Criminal Investigation Department where she made her report and statement was obtained from her and her witnesses.

However, Magistrate Gogra refused bail and send the accused person to the female correctional center special court in Freetown.  

Inspector Mabel M Tarawalie prosecuting the matter, and has been adjourned to the 22nd November 2021.
