ALIE ABESS, RANDA SKEIKY BATTLES IN COURT

Randa Skeiky made another appearance on the 15th November 2021 before justice Momoh Jah Stevens of the high court of Sierra Leone court No.7 in Freetown on two count charges of larceny in a dwelling house contrary to section 13 (a) of the larceny Act 1916 and larceny by servant contrary to section 17 (a) of the larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence Randa Skeiky on a date unknown between the 25th day of August 2018 and the 7th day of September 2018 at Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone stole in the dwelling house of Alie Abess situated at No. 30 Bintumani Drive off Aberdeen Freetown aforesaid the sum of five hundred thousand united state dollars (USD $500,000) equivalent of four billion, five hundred Million Leones (4,500,000.00) property of the said Alie  Abbess of the said dwelling house and on count two of the same date of larceny by servant stole the sum of five hundred thousand united states dollars (USD $500,000) equivalent to four billion five hundred million Leones (4,500,000.00) property of the said Alie Abbess of the said dwelling house.

Accused person Randa Skeiky testified before Justice Momoh Jah Stevens on the alleged $500,000 saga. She said on the 7th  November, 2021  she received a phone call from her husband Kai Skeiky informing him about missing money that Alie Abbess alleged she had stolen.

During cross examination, the accused person Randa Skeiky said she was at a wedding party in the evening hours when she received a phone call from her husband that First prosecution witness (PWI) told her husband that she has stolen the sum of five hundred thousand United States dollars $500,000 from his safe.

He said the complainant Alie Abbess instructed Randa to handover all keys relating to his safe.

She denied in court that she did not see any $500,000 from the safe, the accused also said that she did not hurriedly travelled as she had discuss her travelling to the complaint before the money was missing, the accused said her reason for travelling was to see her daughter.

The accused also stated that her husband did not allow her access to sleep in their home and had to sleep at the house of her husband’s brother.

When asked why she refused to return to work after the allegation was made, the accused responded saying that she did not return because the complainant had already taken her to the police and that the complainant falsely accused the husband behind her back.

Second prosecution witness (PW2) also testified saying he was not in Freetown at the time of the event, he said the complainant did not state the amount of money missing; he said the complainant just told him about missing money.

He continued that on the 7th the complainant Alie Abbess called him about missing money and that he went to the house of the complainant on Saturday evening and that when he received the call from the complainant he immediately called his wife.

The defense counsel was represented by H. Kamara and Y.Yillah while the state was represented by JK Sesay. The matter has been adjourned to the 19th November 2021.
