It could be recalled that, in May this year the Assembly of God Mission Sierra Leone elected its General Council Executive of the mission during which a born of the soil of Kono Rev. Sahr Christian Fayia was elected as the General Superintendent of the general council of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone. Prior to his election Rev. Fayia had served as the general secretary of the mission in two uninterrupted terms. The inauguration ceremony was held to officially install the newly elected executive of the general council of the mission. The event was described by many as historic owing to the fact that it was the first in the history of the mission to have a general superintendent from the eastern region. In his sermon titled ordained to serve with text from first Peter chapter five verse two Rev. Timothy Kettor of the Free Pentecostal Mission Sierra Leone said that the newly elected leaders of the mission must be willing and ready to serve in all circumstances.
According to the man of God, leaders are installed to be anointed and so on. He called on the general superintendent to manifest good leadership and work with enthusiasm and zeal to create impacts in his tenure.
Rev. Kettor emphasized that a good leader must not grow wrinkle that would scare people away “a good leader should not be afraid of gossipers and must give deaf ears to those that would tend to gossip and must equally be wise to treat anyone that will manifest it openly” Rev. Kettor stated.
The general superintendent of the council of the Assemblies of God Mission Sierra Leone Rev. Sahr Christian Fayia in his inaugural speech said he wants to invest in the human resource of the mission that would help to expand the mission in every district of the country through other aspect by organizing trainings and workshops so that the mission will get the capacity to spread the gospel.
He also said that he wants to invest in the children whom he said are the windows of hope and women as well. Rev. Fayia assured all that during his tenure he will work to establish district superintendent in each political district in the country. He called on all to support him and the entire general council towards achieving their mandate.
The chairman council of paramount chiefs in Kono P. C. Emmanuel Tamba Torche Foryoh appreciated the general membership of the Assemblies of God mission Sierra Leone for reposing the confidence on born of the soil as general superintendent and assured the mission that Rev. Fayia has long been showing good leadership citing the Central Assembly of God Church in Kono where through his leadership the church was able to be transformed into a cathedral. According to P. C Foryoh as authorities in the district, they will give their utmost support towards making him and his executive succeed. The official installation of the new executive of the general council of the Assemblies of God mission Sierra Leone for the next four years term of office was done by the out gone general superintendent of the mission in the person of Rev. Tommy Bangura during which the new executive of the general council of the mission officially took oath of office.
