The Regional Police Commander in the Southern Region, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia has spoken tough against bad policing after residents of Makpele Chiefdom raised concern over the behavior of some police officers in the Chiefdom.
It could be recalled that sometimes in October 2021, there was a footage making rounds on social media that Francis Foday Musa (Officer In Charge) slapping and ruining derogatory words on one Michael Johnny, a Custom Officer attached Zimmi town, in Makpele Chiefdom ,which was against the ethics of the SLP, such action warranted his immediate suspension.
On this note, the Assistant Inspector General of Police Southern Region, AIG Aiah Edward Samadia has on Thursday 11th November 2021, introduced the newly transferred Officer Commanding of Zimmi Police station to the people of Makpele Chiefdom in Zimmi town, Pujehun district.
Welcoming AIG Samadia and his entourage, the Paramount Chief of Makpele Chiefdom, Mustapha Taamu described the visit of the AIG and his team as timely, noting that the visit will help to restore peace and tranquility which has been deficient between the people of Makpele and the Police owning to bad policing by the former OC ASP Francis Foday Musa.
Paramount Chief further maintained that “our relationship with the Police over the years have been very much cordial and respectful, but of recent, OC Francis Foday Musa started exhibiting bad policing ethics which produced ill relationship between the people of Makpele and the Sierra Leone Police, he added.
Speaking to the People of Zimmi town, AIG Samadia pleaded with the Community People of Makpele and totally condemned the ineptitude behavior of OC Francis Foday Musa.
On behalf of the Inspector General of Police, I would like to inform you that ASP Francis Foday Musa has been suspended from normal policing duties as procedure demands while the investigation is ongoing, AIG opined.
He therefore explained that the Zimmi Police station must not be functional and effective without an Officer Commanding. On this note, AIG reassured the People of Zimmi Makpele of a credible, astute, dynamic and respectful Police Officer with thirty (30) years outstanding policing experience in various leadership positions.
A Commander with vast knowledge in community policing, and he is a charismatic leader who can work with the people of Makpele.
He further introduced ASP Ibrahim Sorie Kamara to the people of Makpele Chiefdom as the new Officer Commanding Zimmi Police station.
He was well received with open hands by the people of Makpele Chiefdom and further maintained that they are willing and ready to work with the police and reassured the Regional Police Commander South AIG Aiah Edward Samadia of their commitment to obey and work with the new Commander for the maintenance of peace and security at all times.
In conclusion, AIG thanked the Paramount Chief and stakeholders of Makpele Chiefdom for their recognitions and acceptance to have a new Officer Commanding in the person of ASP Ibrahim Sorie Kamara.
He lured the people of Makpele Chiefdom to work hand in glove with the police in order to ensure a safe environment and combat cross border related offences in their respective Communities.
