In a well-attended news conference beat their Southern region office in Bo, Commissioner Biah Yormah Idriss of the Right to Access Information Commission on Wednesday, 10th November 2021, informed journalists about the reopening of the Commission’s Resource Centre.

Giving the reason for the closure of the Centre, Commissioner Biah Idriss said that the Centre was closed to the public in respect of the Covid-19 regulations, noting that it has resumed full operation as the Covid-19 disease falls away.

The Centre, according to Commissioner Idriss, said before its closure was mostly visited by students, civil society activists and other researchers.

“Many people had problems accessing information in Sierra Leone. Therefore, the World Bank through the Government of Sierra Leone supported the establishment of the Resource Center to provide credible information to the public,” he disclosed.

Mr. Idriss went on to note that, there is a lot of information that can be accessed through the web, but many people do not have the opportunity to go to cafes to access some of this information. The resource centre, he noted, is now open to Sierra Leoneans with a free internet browsing system.

Summing up, Mr. Idriss assured that the Right to Access Information Commission is open to serve the public.
