The Local Unit Commander of the Bo East Police Division, Paul Banister has disclosed that the Police Personnel deployed to provide security at the Sub-station of the Electricity Distribution Supply Authority (EDSA) located at the new police Barracks in Bo will be investigated for the stealing of cables.
Addressing a cross section of Management of EDSA staff in his office in Bo, ACP Banister said that it is a pity because he was not around when the previous theft of cables were done but maintained that he is not in charge of the division when this one has happened.
He however said that it is unfortunate when a substation under lock and key manned by the police, for cables to be stolen and expressed commitment for a robust investigation that will be mounted for the cable theft.
Earlier the Engineer of EDSA in Bo, Ing. George Seiya said that the EDSA facility is a government infrastructure that is located within the new police barracks and we are expecting by every stretch of imagination for adequate security to be provided, particularly when there has been report of copper cable theft at the sub-station at the police barracks in Bo.
He said over five hundred precious customers will be going without light including Temgbewabu community, Sherriff town , the Bo East Police station and its environs.
He said that the low voltage cable of 120 meters were carted away and each length of the meter cost six hundred and fifty five thousand Leones, adding that the communities affected will go without light because of the procurement processes.
Ing. Seiya said that the Minister of energy has engaged the security to step up security at the EDSA facilities and there has been successes national-wide but the unfortunate thing that has happened in Bo should be investigated and they are doing assessment at the sub-station to know the damage caused at the station and report to the national office for action to be taken.
A-Z reliably learnt that the cable theft at the sub-station at the new police barracks happened on the 8 of November, 2021 but it was not reported by the officer on duty except that the customers had to report to the EDSA office about the blackout they are experiencing.
