Kono Health Professional Association (KOHPA) has been officially launched in Koidu City Kono District, with Joseph T. Kamara as the Chairman of the aforementioned Association.
Mr Kamara told this medium that the aims and objectives of forming the association is to build the capacity of medical practitioners in the district and the country as a whole thereby complementing the efforts of the Government of Sierra Leone through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation by increasing the number of medical practitioners.
He noted that the Association does not only increase the number of practitioners but it also maintains and improves on the professional standards of medical practitioners to impact efficient and effective service delivering. Joseph T. Kamara intimated our Correspondences that the beauty of the Association is that it renders financial assistance to its members through the monthly subscriptions paid by the members of KOHPA as over the years many of their colleagues have been unable to complete their courses because of money.
“Our plans are to effect unity and love among health workers coupled with the initiative of visiting schools in order to teach and direct pupils how to focus on their studies if ever they want to become medical workers. Joseph T. Kamara said.
He noted that in order to cushion the financial challenges on health workers the association have already started contributing resources to help their members whiles further adding that they are also expecting all and sundry especially stakeholders to help them as health is wealth.
The chairman council of Paramount Chiefs in Kono District P.C. Emmanuel T. Foryoh and others has promised to support the Association.
