The Sierra Leone Athletics Association will go to the pools this month from the 20th to the 21st November 2021 in Kenema.
According to the Vice President, Martin Bangura of the outgoing Executive for the Sierra Leone Athletics Association said they want a new body to take them to Congress and not the current Executive because they are anticipating for a free and fearful elective congress.
“… The athletes have suffered for a long time and we want to see more development for athletics in the Country” he said.
He affirmed that the court has ordered the current Executive to take its membership to an Elective Congress, but since that time nothing has happened and the Ministry of Sports is in charge of Sporting activities in the country while the National Sports Authority is yet to do anything about it and we don’t know where this Executive want to take us.
He further added that the issue of the third term has been resolved and they want now is for the outgoing executive to give instructions to conduct a free and fear election.
“We are not afraid of Election we are ready to go for elections but our stands is that we want them to follow the court order.”
According to the Secretary-General of the Sierra Leone Association Abu Bakarr Spark said they are ready to go for Congress but under the right atmosphere with secured Environment, the International body has advised the association to go for Congress and we are ready for it, and we must follow the orders of the International body.
