On alleged Hastings murder: Police Tender exhibits

The exhibit clerk attached to the crime writers/ exhibits office detective sergeant 1516 Abu Conteh has tendered on AK47 riffle and it’s accessories’ as exhibits in respect of the murder matter between the State and former police officer, Foday Yillah.

The accused, Foday Yillah is before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No 1 for Preliminary Investigation on a count charge of murder.

It was alleged on the charge sheet that on Thursday 15th April, 2021 at Hastings village, the accused murdered Alpha Kargbo alias “Wan dada”.

Led in his examination the exhibit clerk said on the 28th of May 2021, he was on duty when detective Inspector Kargbo M attached to the Homicide Unit at the Criminal Investigation Department handed over to him the following as exhibits in respect of the matter. These include one old SLP AK47 riffle with serial number 14/56_5601281_1195, to empty bullets and a magazine containing twenty eight live rounds Ammunitions.

He said he took possession of the above mentioned items and registered them.in the court exhibit book against serial number 103/2021. The exhibit clerk said since then they have been in his custody.

Testing his evidence in cross examination by defense counsel C. Campbell, the exhibit clerk confirmed that the weapon is the alleged one used during the incident.

Taking a look at the ballistic report, the number on the documents was different from the one that was presented in court.

 The prosecutor ASP Daboh object on the fairness of justice, she said what is on the document was done by the ballistic expert who should come and clarify that in court.

Cross examine back on exhibit C, the document in question, the exhibit clerk said the last number are 8657.

On conclusion of his examination in chief, magistrate Sahr Kekura adjourned to the 16th of November 2021 for the prosecution to continue.
