Chairman Manso Dumbuya Emerges as Popular Choice

Veteran politician seen as one of the doyen of the ruling Sierra Leone Peoples Party, Manso Abu Dumbuya of the ruling Sierra Leone Party, SLPP has retained his position as chairman of western region.

His positioned had been contended by other aspirants who had argued that he is an old man who in their opinion must turned over power to younger person.

The result from past Saturday poll placed Chairman Manso Abu Dumbuya in the lead securing 80 votes, followed by Hindolo Abu Moseray 48, Ing. Patrick David Cole 30 votes and Joseph Ranto Musa 14 votes.

The gap between Manso Dumbuya the next aspirant is considerable to indicate that Manso Dumbuya still retains the confidence of the constituents contrary to suggestions from other contenders who had in pre-election campaign messages claimed that they were going to replace him.

This election has been characterized by vested interest of other politicians which somewhat threatened the cohesiveness of the party.

Manso Dumbuya was at the very nick of time to the election maintained the firm confidence that he was going to drag all the contenders, describing them as jokers who could not submit to his tutelage to succeed him.

Earlier, during his declaration ceremony supporters of the veteran politician made tribute to his years of political struggle in the party, having served incessant jail terms to warrant a pay back in last respect of voting him before his political exit.

Chairman Manso Dumbuya is deputized by Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh who went unopposed and women’s leader Geeta Hingha reelected.

Generally, the election that was presumed to have security risk passed off peacefully.
