The Precious Minerals Unit at the Criminal Investigating Department of the Bo Police Division is currently investigating over nine suspects over the circumstances surrounding the mysterious disappearance of what has been described as diamond at Bo No.2 Extension in Bo.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper in Bo, the Southern Police Media Officer of the Sierra Leone, Inspector Mohamed Bobson Senu confirmed the investigation.
According to him, one Samuel Turay alias Kedo had a dream of somebody showing him a location of a diamond and the following day he went to the location and found the said diamond and handed it over to Mohamed Sillah at Bo No.2 extension.
He said that Sillah who was given the diamond deposited it into a toilet and later Turay went on disturbing Sillah for a period of two weeks to give him back the said diamond.
Inspector Senu said that the missing of the diamond got to the hearing of the community stakeholders and decided to dig the toilet to retrieve the diamond and they succeeded seeing the diamond, which was taken to the community tribal heads.
The diamond he said was later possession of Abdulai Turay, Abdulai Sessay and Musa Thullah later flee and returned back, who are also in police custody for interrogation.
Inspector Senu, however, said the diamond that was found in the toilet was later discovered to be not a diamond as described by the community people ,and that the family members of the person who dreamt about the diamond including Mohamed Thullah 1, Mohamed Thullah 2, Skeke Conteh, Abdulai Conteh and Abdul Thullah have been invited for further interrogation surrounding the disappearance of the diamond.
He said that on Sunday, 17 October the matter was reported to the Precious Mineral Units of the criminal investigation Department of the Sierra Leone Police in Bo for investigation.
Meanwhile, the complainants and the Police could not tell the value of the stone claimed to be a diamond.
