For the first time, artists of Waterloo and those of Deep Eye Water will lock horns in what is referred to as a thug of war battle for the supremacy.
Slated for 30th November 2021, this history making contest will help rate the improvements acquired by our local artists over the years especially during the ongoing Covid pandemic which prevents outdoor shows. The venue has not been disclosed as discussions between the President of Deep Eye Water and that of Waterloo are in progress.
The President of the Deep Eye Water Artist Union, Mohamed Bangura aka King Star has informed A-Z newspaper that discussions on the venue and winner’s prize will be settled come Sunday when their weekly meeting is going to take place.
He called on members of the Union to be present and make meaningful contributions towards the debate.
He said artists have sat for too long without performing due to the Corona virus adding that the forthcoming contest will help motivate the artists.
He said for too long a good number of artists have been going without promoters and shows.
“The situation has to change for Salone music to compete with Nigerian music”, he submitted.
“If we have people to support our music”, he went on, “you will see that Salone artists are doing great”, King Star added.
King Star has done some featuring songs with colleague artists and has seen the need to do more if possible with big stars like Kao De Nero, the Music Ambassador.
