KOMANDOR RESIDENTS IN GBENSE CHIEFDOM DEMANDS PURE DRINKING WATER

The town Chief of Komandor Town in Gbense Chiefdom Kono District Aiah Bona has called on authorities and humanitarian organizations to come to their aid by addressing the problem of lack of pure drinking water his people are faced with in the Kumandor community.

He made the clarion call in an interview with our correspondent in the aforesaid community when explaining the challenges they are presently faced with.

He noted that water well was constructed for them at the SLMB primary school, but after some months thieves carted away with the pump head since 2005 to date nothing the pump is yet to be repaired.

He further explained that from the school to the town where the Children do go to fetch water is almost half a mile and the lives of Children are at stake.

 “Kumandor town is a small community in Gbense Chiefdom and we are actively embarked on agricultural activities to generate income for ourselves and to as well undertake other developmental activities in our community” Chief Aiah Bona stated.

Hawa Yambie is the “Mami Queen” of Kumandor town when speaking on behalf of her colleagues she said women in Kumandor town are determined to do agricultural activities, but there is no external support to encourage them.

She however, pointed out that, they don’t want to be liability to their husbands anymore; rather they want to contribute positively for the smooth running of their homes and as well contribute to the development of Kumandor town.

She beseeched workers of the Ministry of Agriculture in Kono District and other people who have love for Agriculture in the District to render support to them, so that their dreams will come to light.
