In the pending elections for east urban district incumbent chairman Gbondo Margai is upbeat about retention of power predict a landslide victory.
He says “I have done my homework and I am very confident that the delegates have trust in my leadership to reelect me.”
Gbondo Margai has reacted to allegations from his contenders suggesting that he had in past received money from companies operating in the district as baseless.
“ I challenge them to come forth with evidence that I had received money from any company, the trut is companies provide cooperate social responsibilities when you identify projects that they could support directly with passing on money to anybody, asserts Gbondo Margai.
Asked what accounts for his popularity, the chairman says he is a man of the people and had helped many of party stalwarts in creating jobs and even providing scholarships to student, “but this is something I hate to talk about..,”
He referred to his contender as his boy, who had not succeeded in district level politics but now wants to contend at a bigger platform.
“I wonder if you fail at the NPSE, you can make it at the WASC,” jibes Gbondo Margai.
Ghondo Margai is confident that his victory will prop up the chances of President Bio’s election has he has strategy to augment on the western area votes in favor of SLPP.
“I cannot divulge my strategy until the time of campaign comes,” he said.
