Sierra Leone senior side Leone Stars has on Tuesday 12th October 2021 lost against the Atlas Lions of Morocco at the Stade El Bachir Mohammedia Stadium.

The Moroccans get their first goal in the 12 minutes of play  as Saadane scored the first goal but Sierra Leone get the equalizing in the second half as Kwame Quee scored in the 61minutes of play.

The defeat is the first defeat for Sierra Leone Senior National football team Leone Stars after seven matches in international.

According to the head coach John Edward Keister, the three Friendly matches are not about the results even though the teams been competitive but again it is to test the players ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon Yaounde in January 2022.

He affirmed that the Friendly encounter against Morocco is vital for the team preparations because Sierra Leone is in group E alongside with Algeria a North African team this will help them as a technical team to prepare the team in a good shape going for the big show down in Cameroon.

Sierra Leone has a poor record against Morocco.

Morocco has defeated Sierra Leone six times and draws one match and they are yet to loose against the Leone Stars of Sierra Leone in a competitive matches and this is the first goal Sierra Leone has scored against Morocco since 1984.

The Friendly encounter is not a FIFA and CAF sanctioned match,  however the Morocco Football Association use the reserve team against Sierra Leone because they have a crunch tie against Guinea in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Leone Stars delegation is expected to return back to Sierra Leone on Thursday 14th October 2021.
