A new principal of St. Andrew’s Senior Secondary School has been officially appointed on Monday 11 October 2021.
Mr. Keifa Avayama Kanneh succeeds Mr. Moinina Sandi, his predecessor.
The new principal of the St. Andrew’s Senior Secondary School has vowed to ensure that his school regains its lost glory by working hard with his staff to make sure that their pupils perform well in public examinations.
He vowed to transform the school into one of the top schools in the country as it used to happen.
Mr. Kanneh informed the school was founded in 1954 by the Council of Churches in Sierra Leone, hence its name UCC (United Christian Council). It was among one of the top schools in the country.
He added the school also did well in sports from 2000 when it was among schools in the country with one of the best footballers and volleyball players who took part in every school competition.
Mr. Kanneh further informed the school remained among the top best schools in Sierra Leone especially during the regimes of its principals J.S. Bayoh and J.D.S. Mattia.
He however said standards in the school began to drop after Mr. Bayoh and Mr. Mattia retired.
Mr. Kanneh on the other hand expressed optimism that with his vision and with the cooperation of his staff, pupils, parents and guardians, St. Andrew’s Senior Secondary School will in future top public examinations.
“I will ensure we produce good results and maintain discipline in the school as well as having dedicated and committed staff,” he vowed.
He also informed old pupils and the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School are expecting him and staff to deliver and assured to meet their expectations by monitoring the performance of teachers and pupils including their attendance.
He disclosed enrollment in the school for this academic year has increased and encouraged pupils who have gained admission into the school to study hard to pass their examinations.
The new Principal of UCC Secondary School is appealing to old pupils to be patient with him to allow him to fulfill his promise of making the school one of the best schools in Sierra Leone.
He revealed that after the Government of President Julius Maada Bio was ushered in 2018, Government refurbished the school to the delight of past and non-past pupils.
Mr. Keifa Avayama Kanneh is a past pupil of St. Andrew’s Secondary School. He has taught for over 20 years.
Mr. Kanneh was Vice Principal of the school before his appointment as principal.
