Having been a Disc Jockey (DJ), Presenter and Producer at a community radio (Vopad 96.5 FM) situated in the Western Rural District, Alpha C. Mansaray aka DJ Wayde is now in the United States of America, according to him, representing the Sierra Leone Sierra Leone DJs Union (SLEDU).
As a member of the Union, DJ Wayde had been very instrumental in promoting local artists and the growing music industry of Sierra Leone. “The only way to big up Salone music is to play them regularly on air and conduct interviews with the artists”, DJ Wayde told A-Z newspaper.
He said it is challenging promoting Salone music solely considering the fact that our musicians do not have money to pay for promotions. Now in the USA, DJ Wayde is carrying the Green, White, and Blue flag as far as Sierra Leone Music is concerned. He said in the U.S.A. he is going to keep the fire burning cool and play easy amongst Sierra Leoneans as well as Americans. “By promoting our music here, we are as well promoting tourism and Sierra Leone culture in this part of the globe”, he said.
DJ. Wayde started his entertainment career at aged 15 while going to school. From 2016-18 he had worked at Victory Radio 88.1 FM before joining Vopad Radio the following year.
