Delegates on Saturday 9th October 2021 during the Western Area Athletics Association (WAAA) Elective Congress at the Trade Centre complex have elected Musa Sandy as the new President of the Western Area Athletics Association.
Sandy succeeds Frank Turay after securing 24 votes from the polls to defeat his opponent Shuibu Bangura who pulled 15-votes to begin his four years.
“It feels good to always win, and winning an election of this nature to be the WAAA boss is fulfilling. I’m deeply honored for the support from all delegates as well as my predecessor Frank Turay for believing in him and also extend thanks to the SLAA President Alhaji Abdul Karim Sesay for giving him such opportunity to take his athletics career to another level”, Sandy Said.
In another development, Kingsley Barrie outshined Sorie Turay for the position of Vice President having secured 24-vote with Sorie securing 15-vote. Morie Morie elected Secretary General, Mohamed CID Cee (Assistant Secretary), Samuel Jalloh (Marketing Officer), Osman Ola (Public Relations Officer), Sellu Aruna (Treasurer) and Ada Lahai (Women Representative One).
