One in Jail for Burglary, Larceny

The accused person Tejan Will for the first appeared before Hon. Justice Reginal Fynn on the 8th October, 2021 for burglary and larceny. The accused person is before the court on three counts charges.

According to the particulars of offense which states that the accused person on the 7th June, 2020 at Freetown in the Republic of Sierra Leone did break and enter the dwelling house of Prince Brima Foray with intent to steal and did steal one mobile phone, one 4G orange hear box mifi property of the said person and the said property value three million Leones (Le3, 000,000/00)

Count two state that the accused person on the7th June, 2020 at Freetown in the Republic of Sierra Leone did break and enter the dwelling house of Fatmata Bangura with intent to steal and therein did steal one bag mark Gucci containing the sum of one million nine hundred and forty thousand Leone (Le1, 940,000/00) property of Fatmata Bangura and that the said property being of the value of one million nine hundred and fourty thousand Leone (Le1, 940,000/00).

Count three the accused person on the7th June, 2020 at Freetown in the Republic of Sierra Leone did break and enter the dwelling house of Hawa Sesay with intent to steal and therein did steal one Tecno Spark, 3 mobile phone property of Hawa Sesay the said property being value of one million five hundred thousand Leones (Le 1,500,000/00). After the court registrar read the charges the accused person pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The State Counsel V.E.A. Kabia made an application for both accused persons to be on trial by judge alone instead of a judge and a jury. The application was granted by the judge as there were no objections. The State Counsel continued that they are constrained in procuring their witnesses and the Master and Registrar was unavoidably absent in court to assist with signing of subpoenas.

She asked for a short adjourned date to facilitate the process to procuring their witnesses.

Defense Counsel H. Momoh said they are not averse to the fact that the State Prosecution is constrained but he wishes to make an application for bail for the accused person.

 In his application Defense Counsel said the accused person is a local resident and that he has credible sureties who are willing to enter into his recognizance and to produce him at any time the court needs him. The matter has been adjourned to the 15th October, 2021.
