IMF, World Bank Directors Reassure President Bio of Fullest Support

In Washington President Julius Maada Bio has once again won plaudit from no less a person than the IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva. Her laudatory comment was made in a special meeting held with President Bio in Washington.

She has even tweeted her deep impression about the Bio government saying: “I am a big fan of what Sierra Leone is doing especially on god governance and responding to crisis. You priorities to invest in people and build a more resilient economy have our fullest support. “

Such an approval rating from the head of the IMF about the performance the Bio government has been described as a good omen of remarkable things to happen in terms of donor supports from diverse areas in taking cue from the IMF.

A-Z has been gauging public opinion on the implication of the comment of the head of IMF.

“It is a statement that indicates that Bio government has been judiciously utilizing resources provided by the IMF for intended projects and programs,’ according Francis Dumbuya Public Administration student at IPAM.

He added that if you are corrupt government you cannot win such confidence of IMF to the extent being assured of fullest support in implementing activities linked to your manifesto commitments that are pro people.

Makhtar Diop is the World Bank IFC Managing Director and Executive Vice President who has also sounded positive about the gains made by the government of President Bio.

His tweet reads: Fruitful meeting with HE President of Sierra Leone…committed to support the growth of the private sector in the country; develop projects in infrastructure, energy and agribusiness; participate in local economic development…the time is now.
