The Paramount chief Member of Parliament for Kambia district PC Bai Farama Tass Bubu Ngbaka has on 29th of September 2021 ended an engagement with section chiefs and taskforce members at the chiefdom Court Barry in Kambia.
The Honorable Paramount Chief Member of Parliament disclosed to community members that the purpose of the engagement is to inform community authorities about the outbreak of EBOLA virus in Guinea and how the chiefdom should put strategies in place to prevent the EBOLA virus from entering the district and the country as a whole.
He explained to his audience that Ebola caused lot of challenges especially in Kambia district, especially in few of the villages that were affected by the previous outbreak
According to the (PCMP) the most affected were Mayafa community, Malal community, Bamoi Luma, Meni curve, Gbenkfay, Gberaka, Gbonkomaria, and Rokupr community.
PC Bai farama Tass Bubu Ngbaka called on section chiefs and taskforce members to be vigilant in their different communities, and should also be able to educate members of their different community about the Ebola virus.
He also encouraged them to take the Ebola vaccine which is presently available at the District health management team in Kambia.
He advised that people must regularly report to the nearest health facilities any time a community member is affected by any medical condition and visitors should not be allowed from Guinea without reporting to the appropriate authorities for screening.
PCMP ended by calling on other community members living at the border crossing point between Sierra Leone and Guinea to monitor the movement of people traveling between the two countries.
As the engagement progresses the Coordinator for the Risk Communication Pillar at the District Health Management Team in Kambia Hassan Kanu explained in details the signs and symptoms of the Ebola and the Marburg virus. Comments, questions and recommendations climaxed the engagement.
