A middle age man, Mahmoud Sesay has on the 30th September took the witness stand to narrated before Magistrate Mark Ngegba of Pademba Road Court No 2, how four accused persons, Yusuf Koroma Ishmael Sesay, Saidu Dumbuya and Amadu Koroma lured him into conveying stolen items with his van.
The four accused persons are before the court on Preliminary Investigation on a count for conspiracy and store breaking and larceny.
It was alleged on the charge sheet that on diverse dates between 1st and 31st May 2021, all four accused persons stole one hundred and ten bundles of zinc belonging to complainant Bishamwani a business man dealing in building materials.
Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police, Hawa Bah, the witness Mahmoud Sesay said he recalled on diverse dates between1st and 31st of May 2021, and that he was in bed to sleep when the first accused went and informed him that someone wanted to transfer goods to Allen Town from Texaco.
He said on arrival at Texaco first accused that stood as mediator was asked to negotiate the price with him. The witness said after negotiating, they loaded forty eight bundles of zinc in the van and proceeded to Allen Town at a shop for offloading, while the person in charge was not around.
Explaining further, the witness said he was asked to off load the zinc and was paid what was due before he left.
He said a month later, police apprehended his van and told him that the zinc he carried the last time at Allen Town were stolen goods.
“I went to Central police station and told the police where I off loaded the goods”, he stated.
The witness in continuation said he was later asked to make statement in connection to the alleged theft.
At the end of the witness testimony, the prosecutor declares her case close.
Defense counsel informed the Bench that he will be making a no case submission on the next adjourned date slated for the 7th October 2021.
