The Local Unit Commander for the Lumley Police Division, Superintendent J.Moijou has told A-Z newspaper in an interview that they are prepared to work with NaCOVERC during the two weeks lockdown and the night.  He made this disclosure at his office in Freetown on the 25th January, 2021.

The LUC said that their wish is to help the authorities to drop down the rising figures of COVID 19 cases.

 According to the press release last weekend from the NaCOVERC that the measures stated in the release will take effects on the 25th January for a period of two weeks. The head of Lumley has confirmed that his men are on the ground to work assiduously in supporting the Lumley Government Hospital.

Superintendent Moijueh added that the measures to restrict citizens movements from the Western area to any rural part of the country is the step in the right direction , as this will curtail the spread of this deadly pandemic.  

Chairman for the local Police Partnership Board, Alhaji Issa Katco Kamara added his voice, noting that they are pleased with the current policing modes of operation in tackling lawlessness, robbery and crime rate in the community.

From the point of view of the Secretary- General of the Local Police Partnership Board, Francis A.Kandeh, Lumley is the safest community in Sierra Leone. He said establishing and maintaining mutual trust is central goal of Community Policing as it allows law enforcement officers to get wide access to valuable community information to aid the response to crime and prevention options.

The Member of Parliament for Constituency 132 covering Lumley community, Hon.Ibrahim Tawa Conteh, also confirmed safety standard in put in place in the constituency for other commuters and business men and women from other parts of the city to benefit from.

He applauded the Lumley police leadership for their assiduous effort creating the high sense of security among residents and the wider society.

Lumley was classified as one of the most dangerous places to live in the country but under the new Police leadership, things have changed for the better in terms of low level crime rates.

LUC Moijueh however confirmed that there are still minor crimes such as domestic violence, common assaults, among others are reported on a daily basis. He made mention of the support from the Division’s Community Relations Department and Family Support Unit that are very effective in responding to these cases professionally. He called on the sustained support of the public to reinforce the effort in crime prevention and control.
