ORTHODOX FC THRASH PANAMA CITY TO REACH WAFA U-15 GRAND FINAL

Orthodox Football in Sierra Leone has on the 22nd  September, 2021 reached the grand final of the Western Area Football Association U-15 tournament after thumping Panama City by three goals to nil at the Siaka Stevens Stadium Practice field.

The determined Orthodox football club started the game well as they came with the determination to win at all cost and equally so with Panama City.

After the hyping in different media houses the stubborn Panama City were unable to stop the Missionary boys from winning.

After a very tense first half of play both teams were unable to put the ball back of the net as the defenders of both sides were vigilant to deprived the strikers not to score.

Coming from the recess the Missionary boys bounces back as Mohamed Alhaji Kamara scores the opener with a spectacular bicycle kick that left the opponent goalkeeper with no chance.

Panama City tried to get the equalizer but good defence work by Santigie Bangura and his deputy Mohamed Shaw for the Orthodox Fc were robust to help goalkeeper Alieya Mansaray not to concede his third goal in the competition.

Top scorer for Orthodox Fc Umar Kamara scored his fourth goal in the competition by netting the second goal in the match that perishes Panama City.

Orthodox Fc sensational striker Junior Med Koroma (Monkey) who had been suffering from goal drought in the competition framed the gift of Panama City by putting the drought to an end as he scored the third goal in the match that sent his side to the grand finale with immediate effect.

Team Manager King David Kargbo was elated as his boys have made him and the Orthodox Mission super proud.

According the Head Coach, Serry Billy Turay (Baylay Baylay) sounded optimistic that his side will be crowned champions as he will be facing Fc Kallon in the grand final as he defeated them in the opening ceremony and hoping for the same in the grand finale.

 He said “as team we take game by game and looking forward to the historic final, I want to thank the    fans who travelled along  to support the boys calling on them to continue their supports to the team; am  confident that my team will win the trophy.”

While, team coordinator of Panama City, Mohamed Kamara said they were not lucky to progress through as his side lost focus in the match, the pitch was a serious problem that caused there to lose the semifinal match, Coach Kamara Lamented.

He added that all is not lost they will go home and prepared for the next tournament.
