The SLP (Sierra Leone Police) has held a press conference on the 9th of September at its headquarters to update the media on the new rankings and decoration ceremony that was held for promoted commissioners, Assistant Commissioners and Assistant Inspector General (AIG’s) of police.
At the ceremony that was graced by the Vice president, Dr Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, Commissioners of police, alongside 32 Assistant commissioners of police and 5 AIG’s were commissioned and decorated on the said date.
It was also revealed that 30,000 uniforms were supplied with 15,000 raincoats to all officers of the Sierra Leone Police Force.
Mr. Brima Kamara the SLP spokesman informed the media about the recently conducted APC Emergency Delegate Conference that was recently held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of September respectively at Makeni town. The SLP had earlier on warned the APC not to jeopardize the peace and stability of the country and its citizens.
He noted that as per the Conference, rules or laws were setup by the Sierra Leone Police in respect of the country’s Peace and security.
Brima Kamara spoke about the non-display of banners of supporters and contestants and further restrictions of contestant’s images on printed T-Shirts in which the party agreed to in respect of the court order during the Emergency conference.
Concerns were raised with regards police personnel that were seen compromisingly affiliating with a political party member who was seemingly interpreted as a throw of support and of belonging to the said party of which is an unlawful act in accordance with the Sierra Leone Police regulations.
The said police officer named Inspector Alfred is presently on an investigation in connection with the said matter.
He went ahead to give an overview of the conference whiles further commending the SLP for its tireless efforts in maintaining the peace and orderliness of the event, which was regarded as one of the most successful event being conducted in the administration of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP).
Operations Officer Mr. Francis Lebbie spoke on the ongoing investigative cases of conspiracy to commit a felony led by Inspector JB Lahai.
The Murder matter which includes 4male suspects who are students of UNIMAK and the late Sonia who is also a student of the said university. The media was updated on the matter of unlawful possession of fire arms with 7live round bullets and the case of Mariama Caulker who is alleged in engaging in kidnapping and wounding with intent of which investigations are ongoing and the final investigations of the said cases will soon be disclosed.
In conclusion to this Mr. Mohammed Lahai Mansaray spoke on the online elections of the Institute of Public Administration and Management (IPAM) and the orderliness and lawful conduct of the election.
He urged other universities to emulate the same conduct of IPAM to avoid chaos and unforeseen circumstances thereby reducing the burden of student chaos and unwanted fights that cause security problems.
