National Commission for Social Action (NaCSA) has on the 16th September held their annual Technical Review Committee Meeting at the Charlotte street conference hall in Freetown to discuss progresses and successes of project implemented over the years.
Speaking at the meeting, NaCSA Commission, Dr. Sao-Kpato Max-Kyne reiterated the progress made by various project implementers in their assigned chiefdoms. In the overview, she said the pro-poor growth for peace consolidation programme (GPC) is funded through a financial cooperation agreement between the federal government of Germany and the government of Sierra Leone, through the German development Bank (KFW) Executed by NaCSA, and informed the gathering that they are in the third phase of the GPC.
Dr. Max-Kyne said that the objective of the TRC is to critically review the submitted projects from the district councils and employment promotion programme that will be approved and recommended to the KFW for funding for 2022.
In highlighting the funding mechanism, the Commissioner said the first phase of the GPC ran from 2006-2014 with a total funding of 11 million Euro, while the phase covers from 2014-2018 with the estimated project sum of 12.333 million Euro and the third phase is expected to be estimated project of 20 million Euro from 2019-2023.
Dr. Max-Kyne said the new programme goal will focus on contributing to Peace Consolidation. This will aim at contributing to the improvement of employment and income situation of Youths in the Rural Communities through the provision of enhanced economic infrastructure (feeder roads including bridges, grain stores and ancillary facilities, cattle paddocks) along selected value chains of cocoa/coffee, rice, cattle and vegetables.
Phase three will also aim at target groups to make sustainable use of the economic infrastructural establishment with training for key stakeholders (FMC) and financial support to district councils for feeder road maintenance.
NaCSA Programme Manager, Salifu Ansu Mansaray succinctly presented the district Application form on a slide show analyzing district and town headquarters about the implemented project and its successes.
The TRC meeting was climax with discussions, approval and recommendations from district headquarters representative and others.
