Freetown City Council Football Club (FCFC) has held a Press Conference at the City Council headquarters on the 13th September 2021 and has disclosed to press men that the club is set to take legal action against Kamboi Eagles football club head Coach, Francis Zappa Koroma for breach of Contract.
According to the team manager of Freetown City Council Football Club, Sima Conteh he said the press conference is organized to express their dismay on how Francis Zappa Koroma head Coach of Kamboi Eagles football club treated his former club, by breaching a contract he had earlier on signed and has therefore decided to seek Legal redress in the Court of Law.
He furthered that as an institutional club they will follow the due Process in any under taking they entered.
“We have a contract with Francis Zappa Koroma for four years with an option for renewal, we contacted him at first on a verbal contract and later we make it official with the presence of Journalists who covered the event”, he explained.
He affirmed that in the signing of the contract we read the terms and conditions of the contract document to him which he agreed to and penned down a four years contract.
“After that he started to train with the club. He has been around with the team for three months and he had to force us to give him a contract and I have no option but to commit him in a four years contract”, Mr Conteh revealed.
“I started getting rumours that the Head Coach Francis Zappa Koroma is set to be appointed as the head coach of Kamboi Eagles football club, that give me the course to call him straight away to get a confirmation and he said that it is not true and it’s a rumor, one day I was seating in my office and I heard that the head coach Francis Zappa Koroma is not turning up for training I then decided to call him, but to my surprise he failed to pick my calls few days back we just saw that the coach has signed a contract with Kamboi Eagles football club”, He narrated.
According to Francis Zappa Koroma in his resignation letter to Freetown City Council Football club it reads:
“Because of the external forces I am faced with, I have no power to turn it down but I have to leave”, said Francis Zappa Koroma
He added that some of things agreed by Freetown City Council Football club in the contract were not meet and he had family to take care of and above all, it’s time to make way for another club.
Freetown City Council Football club has made it known that they are not going to take it easy with coach Zappa Koroma and within the next 48 hours they are going to seek Legal redress in the Court of Law and to put an end to these wrong ways of treating clubs.
The team Manager said they have written to the Sierra Leone Football Association General Secretary Christopher Kamara on two occasions but no attention was given to their Letters to the Football Association and they also copied the Western Area Football Association, the Premier league Board and the Ministry of Sports but these bodies have failed to act on the matter whiles noting that nothing will stop them to seek Legal redress in the Court of Law.
He concluded by noting that as a responsible football club, they will also inform the Confederation of African Football (CAF)and Federation International Football Association(FIFA) on the said matter.
