Civil Society Activists and other stakeholders in Bo District have expressed doubted about the credibility and authenticity of documents presented by some members of the public who are purporting to be customers of the My Residue Global Company Sierra Leone Limited commonly called my coin.
Some civil Society activists who are monitoring the verification process told this medium that they have discovered a lot of anomalies in the process. The monitor says that something urgent needs to be done by the liquidator to discourage those bent on defrauding the system.
The Regional Convener of Civil Society in the Southern Regional, Mustapha Kpaka claimed that ‘’ there is falsification of documents by some members of the public who want to lay claim to the payment of money invested into my coin following the termination of the operation.’’
Mr. Kpaka said: “the liquidator should ensure that those who invested in my coin get back their money and we will continue to monitor the process to ensure that the right thing is done.’’
The Public Relations Officer of the My Residue Global Company Sierra Leone Limited has expressed concern over falsification of documents to make claims of investment in to my coin ongoing verification of customers of coin business.
Alie Badara described the ongoing registration as very slow due to one liquidator available for the verification. He noted that a firm was hired and they were expecting more than one person for the exercise to be fast tracked.
Meanwhile, Mr. Badara expressed fears that a lot of people are going to be left out who are actually customers that invested in my coin. He noted that this will have security implications in Bo and the country as a whole.
“The money to be paid which was initially seven billion Leones is now closed to thirty five billion Leones to be paid by the government as a result of the falsification of documents,’’ he said, adding that ‘’ more people are being verified and the number is just increasing.’’
‘’ People are giving thirty thousand Leones for them to be verified,’’ Mr. Badara claims.
However, the liquidator could not be reached to react to allegation but A-Z will continue to make effort to get liquidators’ side of the story.
This medium reliably learnt that the liquidator is so busy with the verification that it will be difficult to talk to the media.
It could be recalled that My Residue Global Company Sierra Leone Limited’s operation was terminated because it was not legally registered by Bank of Sierra Leone, which led to the demand of customers for their monies to be reimbursed, which warranted a liquidator to be hired through court order to execute a verification of customers of my coin. The Verification exercise is taking place in the office of the Financial Intelligence Unit.
