BO RANGERS, EAST END LIONS, CENTRAL PARADE SUSTAIN WINNING STREAK

The 2020/21 season of the Sierra Leone Premier League has on Saturday 11th September 2021 resumed across the Country after a three-month  lull owing to the to the recent  surge of the third wave of COVID-19.

Reigning champions East End Lions continue their winning run taking 18 points from the possible eighteen available. An early goal from defender Abdul Razak Conteh in the 10th-minute of the first half ensured Lions resumed the league in winning side. The win takes them to third place behind Central Parade who clinched a narrow win against Mighty Blackpool on Sunday at the Siaka Stevens Stadium.

East End Lions started the league in March with a poor starts; playing three and accumulating no point in their opening three matches.

Head Coach Ibrahim Sillah lauded his boys for starting at the same pace and winning. He urges them to sustain the pace they used before the league was halted.

 “It was a good match and overall a good result for us, the boys showed resolute purpose to take home all three points,” he said.

He added that it is something he was expecting because the last time they met Sierra Leone Police team it was  time when they were preparing for the National play-off where the tied at (1-1).

“Am confident that my boys are going to give me the win,  I was looking for and results is good for us, we are looking forward to our next matches ahead.”

The Acting Head Coach of Sierra Leone Police team Alusine Sesay, stated that experience is the main factor for his side’s defeat despite applauding the team’s spirit his boys showed.

 “Our opponents (East End Lions) were highly technical and a team with more experience players. I am happy with the boy’s performance and hope they will learn from today’s defeat.”

He added that they will go back to drawing board and rectify all those problems. He expressed assurance of getting a win in their next matches, because the current position they find themselves in is not good for the team. They are currently in the 17th position and with fears of relegation.

Saturday’s defeat is Sierra Leone Police Football Club fourth defeat in nine matches, with a win and four draws. They currently sit in seventeenth position with seven points.

At the Bo Mini Stadium on Saturday saw victories for leaders Bo Rangers, who dumped sixth place East End Tigers by two goals to nil. That victory takes them to the top of the table with twenty one points.

At the Port Loko Mini Stadium It was a good start in the office for Old Edwardians new coach Abdulai Kaloga Bah, as his side came from a goal down  to take home all three points by defeating their host Bai Bureh Warriors by two goals to one. The win takes the Old School boys to seventh place with fourteen points.

At the Brima Attouga mini Stadium Bottom side SLIFA FC and Freetown City FC shared the spoils in east end of the city  in a pulsating goalless draw as both teams failed to find back of the net.

On Sunday at the Siaka Stevens Stadium   Central Parade Football Club got a narrow win against Mighty Blackpool Football Club as the captain Kassim Turay scored the goal from rebound from the Goal-Keeper The win has taken Central Parade to third on the League table.

At the Koidu Town mini Stadium Diamond Stars football club settled to a one all draw with Kamboi Eagles football club. Both teams failed to find the ball back of the net and they share the points.

The Sierra Leone Premier league continues at the Siaka Stevens Stadium when FC Johansen takes on Anti-Drugs Football club at 6pm.
