The Director of the National Civil Registration Agency Mohamed Massaquoi is upbeat that the policy mandate of developing Permanent Civil Register will evolve to assure immense benefit to especially curtail the incidence of identity theft.

One way this initiative of checkmating the identity fraud is the allocation of National Identification Numbers, NIM which is not transferrable. With this alpha numeric code assigned too citizens there is now a possibility of creating a one stop shop data base that various entities including banks, NASSIT and even embassies can make reference t based on needed. This is the interoperability process that has been instituted.

NCRA is of the assumption that when the process of confirmation and Registration of citizens and non-citizens is concluded the country can be assured of durable register.

The Information Communication and Education has provided insight to A-Z Newspaper about the concluded process in three region north, west and south and the eastern region is about to commence in the coming days.

Until the entire process is concluded in Kenema, Kono and Kailahun it is premature to have a consolidated data that is going to be subjected the layered processes of transmission, due duplication to have a clean and durable data.

We have gathered that NCRA will down the line of the ongoing exercise provide an incentive of Identification cards to citizens.

But the caveat has been raised that between 2017 to date, a lot of social changes have happened in the status of people which needs to be reviewed and corrected.

There is a wide range of complementarity running across sectors in the data collection process of birth, death, marriage and nullity, A-Z has gathered based on an exclusive interview with the IEC unit of NACRA represented by Joseph Fomolu and Amadu Juana Kamanda.

It is such synergy that was been exhibited in NCRA support to payroll verification leading to the recovery of billions of leones that hitherto went to ghost workers and double dipping.

A-Z Newspaper has also gathered that NCRA is on course to push through legislative process a data protection bill for enactment in consolidating ongoing initiatives.
