Dream Football Foundation a non-division who has won promotion to the division two on Sunday 29th August 2021 won the grand final of the Fourah Bay Armature non division final at the Fourah Bay Field.
The grand final grace by the President of the Sierra Leone Football Association Thomas Daddy Brima, giving a key note address to the two teams and football loving fans he thanked the Fourah Bay Armature Football Association (FAFA) Executive for keeping the non-division alive and at a much competitive throughout over the years.
“This level of football is very important in the development of the game as it creates the platform for young and undiscovered talents to be spotted” said Thomas Daddy Brima.
He added that a good number of national teams players today have gone through this league system, the Football Association recognize you’re in the development of grass-root football and I would like to encourage others across Sierra Leone to emulate your good work as we assure you SLFA’s will continue to give it unflinching commitment in promoting the game at indiscriminately all categories” Thomas Daddy Brima.
According to Morlai Bangura the head coach of Dream Football Foundation said “I feel excited for winning the grand finale, because this is what the fans want as they have been waiting for it for years and now today they are Champions of the non-division at FAFA tournament.” He added that these are not his first trophy as a coach he has won the U-12, 14, competitions at the same venue, the team will have to continue their good runs and prepared for the upcoming division two Competition.
Whereas, John Benjamin head coach of Liverpool football in Sierra Leone he said “We feel disappointed as a team, because they came to the finals to win it but that was not possible as mistakes in the field of play cause them to lose the grand final by two goals margin.” He added that all is not lost they will go home and looks where they get it wrong and to try to fixed it up for any final again, the team have different categories we are going to prepared for the upcoming U-14 competition.
Dream Football Foundation went home with a trophy plus the winning cash and Liverpool football club in Sierra Leone where also giving a runners trophy plus cash. The best player award and the best coach went to the winning team.
The two goals of the match came in the second half of play through a poor play by the back line of Liverpool football club in Sierra Leone.
