On Saturday18th June, 2022 about 10:00hours D/Cpl 13331 Bangura Abu Bakarr attached at Kassirie Police Station, Samu Chiefdom Kambia District received a telephone call from the Community Justice Facilitator and Chairman of Local Policing Partnership Board (LPPB)Samu Chiefdom Gibril ABS kamara.
He informs the security sector in kasirri samu chiefdom about One N’Mah Sumah age 70years of Bureya Village, Mafufuneh Section, Samu Chiefdom who was found drowned in Mathaka Village River on Saturday Evening.
According to D/Cpl 13331 Bangura Abu Bakarr attached at kasirri police station said upon information received from community authorities, he urgently organized a team of police officers namely SUB Inspector Abdulai Kaba, SGT Kamara and himself all visited the scene of crime.
Upon arrival at the river bank of Mathaka river police officer said they meet a group of community stakeholders including her relatives at the scean of crime.
Bangura further explained that in the presence of community stakeholders they decided to take snap shots of late N’mah sumah for evidence purpose.
Samu chiefdom is one of the bigger chiefdoms in Kambia District but lacks General medical facility where in advance medical issues will be reported instead of referring any major health issue to the Kambia Government Hospital.
This challenges has opted the ministry of health and sanitation to provide community health centers (CHC) across the chiefdoms to look at immediate health issues affecting community people at their different localities.
With this health center provided at community level the Corpse of N’Mah Sumah was examined by Community Health Officer (CHO)Mr Bundu Sankoh attached at Mafufuneh Community Health Centre(CHC).
According to findings of CHO Bundu sankoh said after series of Examination he find out that there is no sign of life after the corpse was withdrawn from the river.
D/Cpl 13331 Bangura Abu Bakarr further explained in details that after the medical Examination was completed they decided to hand over the Corpse of late N’mah sumah to her family members for burial.
Statements were also obtained from the relatives of the deceased Aminata Kamara (Elder sister) and N’Mah Turay (daughter).
According to the police, the investigation is gradually in progress.
According to the information officer of Kambia police Division Claudius Moses Gray he said the late N’mah Sumah have been laid to rest in her village town Mafufundeh section Samu chiefdom, Kambia District.
