“70% of Cartographic Work Completed in Bo District” -Census Officer Claims

 The Bo District Census Coordinator for   Mid-Term Population and Housing Census, Ibrahim S. Kabba has said that seventy percent of the digital cartographic mapping has been done in his area of operation and it is expected to be completed at the end of this month.

Speaking to this medium in Bo, Ibrahim S. Kabba said that “we are kindly asking on the people in Bo district to inform their office about their communities that have not been mapped as we want to capture all the areas in Bo District’’.

He said that quality assurance officers from Statistics Sierra Leone are moving into communities mapped to ensure that quality work is done, whiles pointing out that they want to ensure that quality data is collected from the field that will be used for the development of the Bo district and the country as a whole.

“We are working assiduously to ensure that we complete the cartographic work at the end of this month and by the time we would have reached the unreached areas base on the information from the public’’ he said, adding that this is the peoples Census and that is why the input of the people into the census is key in order to have credible data.

Mr, Kabbah said that Statistics Sierra Leone is a credible institution that caters for every season of the census, noting that as this is a raining season there will be procurement of rain gears for the enumerators that will be used for the census.

He said that last month they received four thousand tablets to enhance their work and the minister of Development and Economic Planning has updated   stakeholders including the international community about the progress so far made for the mid-term census

Mr. Kabbah however expressed the hope that Mid -term Population and Housing Census will be done this year and called on Sierra Leoneans to give their inputs into the census to enhance the socio-economic development of the country.
