Sixty-five-year-old contractor, Brima Conteh, also known as Mumbaza, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of incitement, contrary to law.
According to the particulars of offence, on an unknown date between 1st and 30th June 2025 in Magburaka, in the North-East Region of Sierra Leone, the accused allegedly made inciting statements with the intent to undermine the peace and security of the state. The prosecution alleges that Conteh made several statements, including remarks suggesting diplomatic and military threats, and predictions of political takeover.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
Prosecutor Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally informed the court that the defence had been served with all necessary documents. The accused is represented by S.I. Komora Esq. and J.B. Sesay Esq.
Given the seriousness of the offence, Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that Conteh be remanded in custody. The matter was adjourned to 8th December 2025.
