60 EDSA Poles Burnt Down In Tombo Community

It was confirmed yesterday by residents of the Tombo community that over 60 EDSA electric poles were mysteriously burnt down by some unknown and unpatriotic group of people.

These poles were positioned in the said community not too long with the intent of making citizens in that part of the country enjoy part of the rural electricity project, however, a certain element of people who are averse to development decided to deprive others. The aim is to ensure that, Tombo and the rural communities in the Western Area Rural District have access to affordable and clean energy supply. Today the haters of development have burnt all the electricity poles meant for the people of Madina Village, Tombo community.

We are reliably informed that each of the poles cost 30 USD while a huge number of them have been destroyed, and the residents of the community are still wondering whether they will get electricity soon or not.

Some community residents have expressed their dismay over recent happenings in the country and were tempted to ascribe such action to something political. The fact was not far from what the Sherbro Tribal Headman Chief  Benga told this medium that certain group of people residing within the community were throwing provocative innuendos that “dis na firewood, we go burn n light nor get for cam” meaning they are wooden material we will burn them down and there will be no electricity.

Chief Benga revealed that during the process of quenching down the flames, a certain lady stopped the youth from using her sand to off the fire. The lady was later arrested as a suspect and she is now helping with the investigation.

The chief said if such continues it will hinder the developmental strives of President Bio. He called on the authorities to conduct an immediate investigation and bring defaulters to book as this will serve as a deterrent to others.
