37-Year-Old Man Granted Bail Over Alleged Fraud

Thirty-seven-year-old Austin Jusu, also known as “Hero,” has made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of offence, it is alleged that between 30th September and 31st December 2023, in Freetown, the accused, with intent to defraud, obtained the total sum of One Hundred Thousand Leones (Le 100,000) from Abubakarr Mohamed Jabbie by falsely pretending that he would supply PVC windows and doors, knowing the representation to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally, served the defendant with the relevant court documents.

After hearing submissions, Magistrate Jah granted the accused bail in the sum of Two Hundred Thousand Leones (Le 200,000) with two sureties in like sum.

The court ordered that the sureties must be residents of Freetown. Produce valid identification cards indicating their residential addresses. Be gainfully employed by a recognized institution.

The bail is to be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The matter has been adjourned to 16th February 2026.
