36yrs old Thomas Patrick Kangoma Working for the Freetown City Council is answering to three courts charges before the presiding Magistrate of Pademba road court No.1 Sahr Keikura.
Causing grievous bodily harm with intent contrary to section 18 of the OAPA, 1861, unlawful possession of cannabis sativa (Indian Hemp) contrary to section 48 (1) of the Pharmacy and Drugs Act of 2001, Act No. 12 of 2001 and possession of drugs contrary to section 8 of the National Drugs Control Act 2008, Act No.10 of 2008.
It was alleged that on the 27th April 2021 at Savage Street, Berwick Street junction in the Western Area in Freetown maliciously wounded Adikalie Turay with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
On the same date at the same place it was alleged on count two and three that the accused was found in possession of large quantity of cannabis sativa (Indian hemp).
The accused person was represented by C. Campbell, M.S Kargbo, and A.N Ansumana applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person the he is a Sierra Leonean ordinarily resident in the Western Area in Freetown and the accused person have reliable sureties who are ready to go into recognizance on his behalf and he is not a flight risk nor will he jumped bail and will always be in court on every adjourned date.
Counsel made his application pursuant to section 79 (2) of C.P.A No. 32 of 1965.
Magistrate Keikura upon his ruling said having heard the application for bail for and on behalf of the accused person and taken into consideration the seriousness of the allegations bail was refused, and the accused person was sent to the Male correctional centre in Freetown.
ASP Ibrahim S. Mansaray prosecuting and the matter adjourned to the 14th June 2021.
