32 Years Old Man On Remand For Mobile Theft

Yusif Turay alias ‘Sea Fowl’ was on Tuesday 9th of May 2023, sent to prison by Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road court No.3 for alleged mobile theft.

The accused was arraigned on three counts of charges ranging from Burglary and Larceny contrary to section 25 (1) and 13 (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence on Sunday 30th April 2023 at No.91 main road Congo Town the western area in Freetown with intent to steal, the accused broke and entered into the dwelling house of Memunatu Toronka and stole therein one Samsung Galaxy S22 mobile phone value seven thousand eight hundred Leones (Le 7,800) property of Memunatu Toronka.

Police further alleged on count two that the accused on the same date and place, with intent to steal broke and entered into the dwelling house of Memunatu Toronka and stole therein one iPad valued one thousand five hundred Leones (1,500) property of Hussain Bangura.

Whiles count three added that the accused on the same date and place with intent to steal broke and entered into the dwelling house of Memunatu Toronka and stole therein one Techno Camon 12 valued at two thousand Leones (2000) and one Samsung Galaxy A10 mobile phone value two thousand five hundred Leones (2,500) all to the total sum of four thousand five hundred Leones (4,500) property of Mohamed Ishmad Munu Jojo.

When the charges were read and explained to him, the accused pleaded not guilty.

The accused person was not legally represented.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to the 10th May 2023 for further hearing, while Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh is prosecuting the matter.

In another development, one Abubakar Koroma an Entertainer was also sent to remand by Magistrate Bangura for alleged Land forgery.

The accused made his first appearance and was charged on four counts ranging from Forgery contrary to section 4 (1) of the Forgery Act of 1913, altering of Forged document contrary to section 6 (2) of the Forgery Act of 1913 and Trespass contrary to section 15 (1) (a) of the Public Order Act No.46 of 1945.

The police alleged on count 1&2 that the accused on the 22nd November 2016 at No.11 Kargbo Drive Metchem Goderich in the western area of Freetown with intent to defraud, forged certain documents to wit Land agreement dated 22nd November 2016 purporting to have been prepared and signed by Pa Santigie knowing same to be false.

It was alleged on count three that the accused person on the same date and place with intent to defraud, uttered a Forged document of title of land to wit land agreement dated 22nd November 2016.

Whiles count four stated that the accused person on Sunday 15th May 2022 at Upper Boama Village off Fonima Goderich the western area in Freetown, unlawfully entered into the land of Emmanuel Koroma having warned them not to do so.

The charges were read and explained to the accused person but the plea was taken.

The prosecutor chief inspector Francis Macauley sought a short adjournment date.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura adjourned the matter to the 10th May 2023 for further hearing.
