305 NEW BORNS, 119 DEATHS IN KONO – NCRA DISTRICT COORDINATOR

The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) District Registration Coordinator who also doubles as the focal person for Birth and Death in Kono Gibril Ibrahim Caulker has said that all forms of registration rights have been devolved to NCRA since 2016 to date.

Mr. Caulker maintained that the following registrations among others directly fall in the domain of the National Civil Registration Authority: Birth and death, marriage, separation, divorce and adoption. He said the Ministry of Health and Sanitation is still in charge of the Government Hospital and Peripheral Health Units (PHU’S) due to mobility constraint, staffing including other challenges which the office is faced with over the years.

Talking about the importance of citizens registration after any birth and death, Gibril Ibrahim Caulker pointed out that the importance of citizens registration cannot be over emphasized as it is the road map for government to effect development in every facet of life and the country.

According to him the said process does not only help government to effect development but it also unearth challenges the different communities are faced with especially with health related issues.

Meanwhile, the National Civil Registration Authority District Registration Coordinator Kono noted that at least for 2021 three hundred and five children were given birth to in Government Hospital and PHU`s in Kono District while one hundred and nineteen (19) people died. Gibril Ibrahim Caulker therefore pleaded with parents to respect the rights to registration especially birth and death so that government will plan well for it citizens
