Two men, Abdul Kamara and Dominic Monrovia (also known as Elon Wise), have been committed to stand trial at the High Court for conspiracy to defraud and obtaining money by false pretenses.
The accused appeared before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 in Freetown.
According to court records, the accused, along with unknown accomplices, allegedly conspired between the 15th and 20th of May 2025 in Freetown to defraud Daniel Musa. On 20th May 2025, at Masalia Village, Masiaka Town, Koya Chiefdom, in the Port Loko District, the accused are said to have obtained $30,000 USD (equivalent to 720,000 Leones) from Musa by falsely claiming to have two fuel tanker trucks for sale, despite knowing the claim was fraudulent.
During the preliminary hearing, the prosecution presented evidence that established a prima facie case. After reviewing submissions from both sides, Magistrate Jah ruled that there was sufficient evidence to commit the accused to stand trial at the High Court.
Abdul Kamara was remanded to the Male Correctional Centre, while Dominic Monrovia was granted bail under strict conditions, including remaining within Freetown until the next court date. The case has been adjourned pending the scheduling of the High Court trial.
