A 30-year-old man, Abass Kargbo, has been remanded in custody after making his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at the Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a one-count charge of murder.

The accused is alleged to have committed the offence on 11 November 2025 against Abubakarr Fullah of Timbo Lane. He is charged with murder, contrary to Section 10 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861, as repealed and replaced by Section 1(a) of the Abolition of the Death Penalty Act 2021 (Act No. 6 of 2022).

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The matter is being prosecuted by Inspector Mabel Magdalene Tarawally, Esq.

In her ruling, Magistrate Jah ordered that the accused be remanded in custody. The case was subsequently adjourned to 19 January 2026 for further hearing.
