Police Officers attached to the Jembe Police Station in Bo district are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the offence of sexual penetration perpetuated against a two year old baby.
According to reports the baby was found dead at a banana garden at Gogoima Village in Baoma Chiefdom after she was sexually penetrated to death.
The Police have called on the public to provide them with relevant information that will aid them in their investigations.
Speaking to A-Z in an interview, the father of the child Phillip Bayoh said he left the child with her mother at the village and went to take part in the village bridge construction project and upon his return he was told by his wife that she has not been seeing the child around.
Bayoh said that he went into a desperate search of the child and was later called on the phone that the child has been found dead with blood oozing from her vagina at a Banana Garden at Gogoima village in Baoma Chiefdom in Bo District.
He said he reported the matter to the Jerehun Police Station in Baoma Chiefdom and was told by the police to go ahead and bury the child as the officer in charge of Postmortem has travelled to Freetown, adding that the remains of the child can be exhumed later for postmortem examination.
A-Z gathered that the residents of Gogoima Village said that they will provide the police with information that will expedite their investigation into the matter
Civil Society Activists in Bo have called on the Police to mount a robust investigation into the cause of the death of the child and the perpetrator to be brought to book.
They promised to monitor the investigation into its logical conclusion and therefore implored the police to ensure that justice is delivered on the scale of balance.
