35-year-old Alpha Yayah Kamara, a driver, and 27-year-old Emmanuel Babatunde Decker, a builder, made their first appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba Road Court No.1 in Freetown on seven count charges, namely Conspiracy, Wounding with Intent, Wounding, Assault, and three counts of Robbery with Aggravation.

According to the particulars of the offense, on the 22nd of December 2023, at No.37 Emas Drive, Malama, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused persons conspired with others unknown to commit a felony, specifically Robbery with Aggravation. On count two, the accused, armed with a gun, robbed Henry Emeka Joseph of one gold chain, three set marriage rings, one grey Apple laptop computer, physical cash amounting to fourteen thousand seven hundred and fifty Leones, nine hundred United States dollars, and other assorted items, totaling three hundred and two thousand one hundred and fifty Leones (Le 302,150). At the time or immediately before or after such robbery, they used personal violence against Henry Emeka Joseph.

On counts three, four, and five, the accused maliciously wounded and assaulted Henry Emeka Joseph on the same date and place, occasioning him actual bodily harm. On count six, armed with a gun, they robbed Gloria Joseph of one black ladies’ bag, one driver’s license, three assorted gold watches, one blue ladies’ bag, one white power bank, and other assorted items, totaling fifty thousand Leones (50,000). Again, they used personal violence against Gloria Joseph at the time or immediately after such robbery.

On count seven, armed with a gun, they robbed Susan Daddy Conteh of one Apple laptop, one gold mamed ring, a silver-colored wristwatch, and other assorted items, totaling eighty-two thousand five hundred and fifty Leones (82,550). They used personal violence against Susan Daddy Conteh at the time or immediately before or after such robbery.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused persons, no plea was taken. The prosecutor, Assistant Superintendent of Police Ibrahim S. Mansaray, sought a short adjournment date to confer with his witnesses.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura refused bail and remanded both accused persons to the Male Correctional Center in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to the 10th of January 2024.
